DESCRIPTION:St Phoebe Mass celebration during the Sunday Masses (9 am and 11 am) September 3\, 2023\,  at St Matthias Church\, 1566 Ferris Rd\, Columbus.  St Phoebe was a female deacon in early Christianity.  After Mass\, copies of the book Women: Icons of Christ by Phyllis Zagano should be available for purchase at St Matthias. \nPope Francis asked the Church to hold a conversation as to whether we should have women deacons.  This Mass will be the first part of a program to discuss reinstatement of women deacons in the Church.  The second part of the program will be a review of the book Women: Icons of Christ by Phyllis Zagano.  The book review is expected to be held at 7 pm on Thursdays September 7\, 14 and 21 at St Matthias. \nThe third part of this program\, will feature Kelly Adamson speaking on Synodality and Women.  Kelly Adamson is an advocate for women deacons.  She is Associate Director of Campus Ministry at the University of Dayton.  Her talk will be at 7 pm Thursday October 12 at St Matthias.
